Stop “This Call is Now Being Recorded”: 3 Secret Ways to Record Calls Silently

You press the record button to capture an important conversation, and suddenly a loud, robotic voice screams: “THIS CALL IS NOW BEING RECORDED.”

Awkward, right? The other person instantly stops talking or gets suspicious. While Google calls this a “Privacy Feature,” for us Indians, it ruins the whole point of keeping a record for safety or evidence.

If you are frustrated with the Google Dialer, I have good news. As an Android Expert for GadgetGyani, I have tested “Jugaadu” methods for every major brandโ€”Realme, Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and Samsungโ€”to help you record silently.

Method 1: The ‘TTSLexx’ Trick (Works on Most Phones)

This is the most famous “Jugaad” that tricks Google Dialer. We basically tell the phone to use a “Silent” text-to-speech engine so the announcement happens, but nobody hears it.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Go to Play Store and download a free app called TTSLexx.
  2. Open your phone Settings.
  3. Search for “Text-to-speech output” (usually under Settings > System > Languages).
  4. Tap on Preferred engine and select TTSLexx.
  5. Crucial Step: Go to the Home Screen, long-press the Phone (Dialer) Icon > App Info > Storage Usage > Clear Data. (Don’t worry, this won’t delete your contacts or call history, just the app settings).
  6. Restart your phone. Now, when you record, the announcement will happen in a split second before the call connects, effectively making it silent!

Method 2: Brand Specific Solutions (The Best Way)

If you have one of these phones, you don’t even need the TTS trick. You have a better, built-in option.

Samsung Users (The Lucky Ones)

Samsung is the King of privacy. They have their own dialer, not Google’s.

  • The Fix: Open Phone App > Tap 3 Dots (Top Right) > Settings > Record calls > Enable Auto record calls.
  • Result: 100% Silent recording.

Oppo / Realme / OnePlus (ColorOS Trick)

These phones come with Google Dialer by default, but the company has secretly released their own “Old School” dialer on the Play Store.

  • The Fix: Go to Play Store and install “ODialer”.
  • Action: Set ODialer as your Default Phone App. It has built-in call recording with NO Announcement.

Vivo / iQOO (The Secret Code)

Vivo has hidden its original dialer deep inside the system. You just need a secret code to unlock it.

  • The Fix: Open your current Google Dialer and type this code: *#*#556688#*#*
  • Action: A hidden menu will pop up saying “Enable Alternate Phone & Contacts”. Toggle it ON.
  • Result: Your dialer changes to the old Vivo dialer. Now go to Settings > Call Recording > Record all calls automatically.

Method 3: Third-Party Apps (The Last Resort)

If you are using a Motorola, Pixel, or Nothing Phone, the above tricks might not work.

  • The App: Try “Cube ACR” from the Play Store.
  • Warning: On Android 14/15, Google has blocked many recording apps. If Cube ACR records only your voice and not the other person’s, sadly, you might have to stick to the Speakerphone method.
