Galaxy S8 have iPhone 8’s features and might have some tricks of its own

Samsung is going to paying attention to Apple when it comes to plotting the course of it smartphone division. According to numerous reports, the Galaxy S8 will bring over a few features that are surely coming on the iPhone 8 next year (all-screen design with buttons and sensors incorporated into the display) and functions that are available in this year’s iPhone 7 (3D Touch support, dual-lens rear camera, and a personal voice assistant).

Galaxy S8 have iPhone 8’s features

That doesn’t mean the Galaxy S8 won’t turn out to be a great phone. In fact, there’s at least one new Galaxy S8 feature that’s worth getting excited for: that personal voice assistant that Samsung never had.

Gone are those days now, as Samsung has acquired Viv, a startup that makes Siri-like products. In fact, one of the people behind Viv worked on Siri for Apple in the early days. And, rumors are saying that Viv might be a lot better.

sumsung, sasung galaxy s8

According to GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S8’s AI assistant will come with two personalities, including male (Bixby) and female (Kestra) voices, and bring over support for mobile payments by voice.

Galaxy S8’s discovered new AI-related trademark applications filed in South Korea and the European Union, which mention the two names and variations thereof.

Interestingly, the name Bixby Pay has also been spotted, suggesting that Samsung is looking to let people pay for goods by simply voicing the appropriate instruction to either Bixby or Kestra.

This might be just of the novel AI features heading to virtual assistants next year, and probably one of the tricks coming out of Viv’s coffers.

Siri currently makes voice payments via PayPal, and Apple’s virtual assistant might get iMessage peer-to-peer payments support in the future.

vine, vine is shutting down

Twitter is shutting down Vine App

Twitter is shutting down video-sharing service Vine “in the coming months.” Twitter acquired Vine, which lets you share short video clips, in 2012.

“Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today,” Twitter said in a release, noting that users will be given a heads up and be able to download their vines before the website and app shutter for good.

The love story between social media star and actor Logan Paul and Vine is over.

Twitter, which owns Vine, announced Thursday that it would discontinue the short-loop video platform.

The 21-year-old star, who, along with his brother and frequent collaborator Jake Paul, built a massive following on Vine, has already moved on.

“Honestly it’s sad, but I can’t say I didn’t see it coming,” Paul tells CNBC. “I think it was evident. All the Vine creators, we knew our home, the place we started on was slowly reaching a plateau. I felt like it was inevitable at a certain point.”

Over the past few years, Paul garnered some 9.4 million followers on the platform. His viral videos showcased him jumping over moving cars, yelling in bookstores, leaping into piles of slush and more.

logan-paul

His Vine popularity spread to other platforms, prompting Paul to drop out of college to pursue a career in entertainment.

But while Vine previously worked for him and other social media stars, it had recently lost traction, according to Paul.

“I don’t know what the reasoning was, but in our guts, like again, sadly, something about Vine stopped clicking,” he says.

In fact, he had been posting infrequently to Vine over the past year, favoring other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

“YOU REALLY DO NEED TO BE 360 IN THIS INDUSTRY.”

-Logan Paul, social media star and actor

Paul says that Vine’s end will not impact the way he does business or connects with his fans.

“I found new ways to connect with my fans,” he says. “So Facebook, for example, I have 13.1 million fans there. On Instagram, I have almost 7 million.”

While the demise of Vine means one less platform on which he can work with brands, the social media star says he’s sanguine about the new reality.

“I believe you do need to be 360 in this industry,” he says. “And being just a Vine creator was not my goal.”

Paul says he loves all the platforms equally, but he did mention Twitter as a favorite way to connect with fans.

“I want to expand and conquer every platform, every medium as well as pursue entertainment beyond social media — acting, producing, and directing,” he says

Blu Launches iPhone 7 Rival Pure XR, An Affordable Android Smartphone With A 3D Touch Display

Blu Products has announced its latest affordable and flagship-like Android smartphone, the Blu Pure XR. The handset is a follow-up to last year’s Pure XL, and it comes with flagship features without the flagship price.

Galaxy Note 7 vs. Honor 8 vs. iPhone 6S Plus vs. OnePlus 3 vs Galaxy S7 Edge

The Blu Pure XR comes with a 5.5-inch SuperAMOLED full HD 1080p display which supports 3D Touch, the same pressure sensitive display technology found on the iPhone 6s. As of now, it looks like the 3D Touch features only reserved for the device’s user interface/app launcher, according to 9To5Google. That should be resolved once developers start updating their apps to support 3D Touch for the Blu Pure XR. The display is also layered with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 for added protection.

Underneath, the Pure XR is a 2GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processor paired with a Mali-T860 GPU along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It even comes with a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Also, the device powered by a 3,000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charging via USB Type-C. Blu claims that a 10-minute charge would be enough for a talk time of up to one hour, according to Engadget.

As for optics, the Blu Pure XR  comes with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s a bit of a downgrade from last year’s Pure XL that came with a 24-megapixel rear shooter.

Android 7.0 Nougat: Top 10 Features You’ll Love

Other features of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-running Blu Pure XR include 4G LTE support, dual-SIM support, a home button with a built-in fingerprint scanner and a full metal unibody design that’s available in gray and gold color options.

The best thing about the Blu Pure XR is its price. The iPhone 7 competitor is now on sale unlocked at Best Buy and Amazon for only $299. The only real downside of the device is that it only supports GSM networks; therefore, it is only compatible with carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile.

Android 7.0 Nougat: Top 10 Features You’ll Love

Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat made its official debut earlier this week, bringing a slew of enhancements, tweaks, and cool features to improve the overall experience.

Android 7.0 Nougat: Top 10 Features You’ll Love

Android 7.0 Nougat is already available for download for select devices such as the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, the Google Pixel C and the Android One General Mobile 4G.

Android 7.0 Nougat

If you’re a proud owner of one of these devices and want to get a taste of the latest OS, here are the top features you’ll love about Android 7.0 Nougat.

1. Enhanced UI And Better Notifications

Since the visual changes are the first ones you’ll see as soon as you boot up your Nougat device, the tweaked UI deserves a special mention. Android 7.0 Nougat brings instant control toggles when swiping down from the top of the screen, improving the way you can activate or deactivate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and more.

The notification menu, meanwhile, gets a cooling overhaul that makes better use of available on-screen space, sporting smaller fonts and bundling all communications from the same app. Moreover, a new Direct Reply feature now enables users to reply to messages faster and easier, straight from notifications, as Google finally enabled the feature for third-party apps as well. Another useful trick is pressing and holding on information to access the app’s settings, which makes things arguably more convenient.

2. Instant Apps

Google’s new Instant Apps may well be the greatest change to app stores in ages, significantly facilitating access to apps. Instant Apps allow Android users to start using an application immediately in the Play Store, without even having to download it. With Android Nougat, you can only open the Google Play store page for an app and start using it instantly, so you can try it out before deciding whether to download it or not. This could be a real game-changer for how we try out new apps.

3. Power Saving

One of the most commented features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow was Doze, which brought proper battery optimizations to keep devices running for longer on a single charge. Google is now taking things to the next level with Android 7.0 Nougat, introducing “Doze on the Go.”

While the Doze in Marshmallow placed devices in a dormant state when not in use, Doze on the Go offers power-saving features even when in motion, whenever the display is off. Another neat feature called Project Svelte, meanwhile, keeps apps from waking up when detecting changes in the device’s network connection.

4. Vulkan API Support

With Vulkan API support on board, Android 7.0 Nougat should substantially improve the quality of mobile gaming, virtual reality experiences, and other graphics-intensive applications. Vulcan is designed to replace OpenGL and deliver a smoother, more streamlined cross-platform game development process. As a result, mobile games should be more power efficient, work more smoothly and look better.

5. Lower System Requirements

Google started a while back to make its mobile operating system lighter, so to say, aiming to make Android work well even on devices with less impressive specifications.

Android Nougat now rocks tighter core components, lowering the system requirements to run faster on devices with lower-end hardware. This builds on the efforts Google made in earlier versions of Android, starting with KitKat.

6. Daydream VR

Google Cardboard is nothing compared to the ambitious Daydream VR, the company’s latest platform for virtual reality. Daydream VR pairs VR headsets and controllers with an Android Nougat-based UI designed to facilitate discovery and consumption of VR content. Moreover, Daydream VR will rock an impressively low 20 ms latency, which should translate to the best mobile VR experience yet.

On the downside, Daydream VR will only be compatible with a few new handsets, which means that current devices will most likely not be able to support the platform. Future flagships, however, should have no problem getting the most out of Daydream VR.

7. Seamless Updates

Android 7.0 Nougat will minimize disruptions by introducing seamless updates, borrowing a page from the Chrome OS playbook. Simply put, the system will discretely download the OTA update in the background when connected to Wi-Fi, and install them as separate system images on the device storage. This means that you’ll be able to continue using an app even while it’s updating in the background, as Nougat allows two system images to run at the same time. The latest system image will automatically boot up upon restarting the device.

8. Google Allo

Android Nougat finally brings Google Allo to the table, arriving as a fresh new messaging app that taps Google’s powerful search, security technology, and machine learning. Allo will allow users to make web searches and bookings quickly and easily, without having to leave a conversation. The app is also designed to offer suggestions for message replies, based on what messages and photos you’ve received.

Moreover, Google Allo also sports an “Incognito Chat” mode that not only protects messages with end-to-end encryption but also allows users to set timers for when they want messages to expire.

9. Google Duo

Neatly complementing the Allo messaging app, Google Duo is the company’s new video calling app, aiming to make video calling easier than ever. At the same time, Duo also doubles down on security, ensuring end-to-end encryption for all calls. Google Duo quickly soared to the top of the Play Store, ranking as the top free app.

10. Better Multitasking With Quick Switch And Multi-Window

Google has always handled multitasking quite proficiently with Android, but Nougat makes everything better. Quick Switch, for instance, will allow users to switch seamlessly to the last used app simply by double-tapping the Recent button.

Speaking of the Recent menu, Android 7.0 Nougat also introduces a new Clear All Button, which was missing from the stock version of Android Marshmallow.

Multi-window makes use of the Recent menu as well, allowing users to open an app quickly from another app. More specifically, if you press the Recent button while you’re using an app, you’ll have the option to select another app to open alongside your current one. Both apps will work simultaneously in a split-screen view. This should significantly improve productivity, especially since you’ll be able to drag items from one app to another when both are open in a split-screen view.

Android 7.0 Nougat

Android 7.0 Nougat Upgrade Looks Awesome | Features

Android has finally started rolling out the seventh version of their smartphone operation system – Nougat. While only select Google Nexus devices get the update first, other Android users will have to wait for a few months before they try it out (more as you read the article). Apart from the fact that this was the first time Google invited developers from all around to take a sneak peek at the Android N back in March so that they can bring their apps to the new platform, this was also the first time Android sought the help of its users to give it a fitting name.

Android 7.0 Nougat Features

Google might have claimed that there are over 250 major features in the Nougat, but here are some that have got us pretty psyched.

Google

Customizable settings

The quick setting drop-down is one of the handiest options in a modern-day Android OS. It helps us with easy access to the most commonly used features like connecting to WiFi or putting on the flashlight. Android makes using the quick settings drop-down even easier. Now you can control and customize the tiles to your needs. Some smartphones and launchers already have this feature (like my OnePlus 3) but rolling it out on all devices across platforms is a positive.

Google

Multi-window

This one is quite exciting. Multitasking has become a way of life for Millennials. I want to watch something, but I also want to WhatsApp my lads at the same time and always to switch between apps is enough frying. But Nougat offers a multi-window option. So now I can watch the video and chat at the same time. I can resize the windows too, by dragging the divider, so it’s as big as I want it to be. Okay, that came out wrong.

Direct reply

A very welcome change that makes handling notifications simpler. Nougat offers custom views for certain apps along with the option to respond to a text or chat with someone without actually having to open the app itself. iOS got this feature last year with the 3D touch, and we are quite glad to see Android follow suit.

Smarter Battery

The battery life has been one of the most pressing issues for every smartphone user out there. Which is why people pay close attention to how big the battery is, and how good the RAM management of the phone is. To make a battery of the phone last longer, Android introduced the Dose feature in the Marshmallow last year. With the Nougat, Doze is even more refined. Your device will now drop into the Doze mode whenever it’s lying idle or resting in your pocket while you’re on the move, saving a lot of juice.

Gaming will become more fun

Android Nougat supports the Vulkan TM, which means high-speed, next generation console-like graphics on your phone. But that’s not it; it also supports Daydream – Google’s platform for mobile virtual reality. Now Daydream might not be available on all phones, which is why Daydream-ready phones, headsets, and controllers are also slated to launch this year.

Safety

The Android Nougat update has added another layer of data encryption for our files which make it a more secure phone. Apart from this, there’s also the little feature of seamless updates. Which means that device can now install software updates in the background without keeping us waiting for several minutes at a stretch. Even better if you own a Nexus, your phone will start booting a lot faster.

So should you go for the upgrade?

Of course! It might not be an operating system with drastic changes to its look and feel, but it is still quite a substantial upgrade to have.

Forbes

When will my device get the update?

If you have an Android, rest assured you will get the Nougat update. When you get, it is the largest question here. Nexus devices, of course, get the first Android updates. So if you own the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5x or the Nexus 6, look for the upgrade, it’s probably waiting for your approval. All these phones run stock Android and get their updates directly from Google. Other Android updates are rolled out by device manufacturers who need to make sure the new version runs flawlessly with their custom features, and that can take a while.

Blackberry is all Android now and is likely to roll out Nougat updates by the end of 2016.

It has already confirmed that Nougat will be coming to HTC 10, HTC One A9 and HTC One M9 and is likely to be available by the end of November this year.

Huawei launched Android Marshmallow with its pre-loaded software, Mate 8. The company might do the same this year by starting the Mate 9 with Nougat by the end of this year.

LG launches the Nougat update with a new device and this year is no different. They have already publicly confirmed the launch of LG V20 with Android 7.0 when it launches on the 6th of September. The rest of the LG devices will get their updates a couple of months later.

Motorola gets its updates pretty fast thanks to the near-stock Android software it boasts of, so expect an update in the next couple of months.

Samsung did a phase-wise roll out for the Marshmallow upgrade. People in South Korea got it first and the others, a few months later. The Nougat update is expected to come a little sooner but not before the end of 2016 or January 2017.

OnePlus is notorious for taking its own sweet time to update its software. The OnePlus 2 got its Marshmallow update only in June this year. We won’t be surprised if the update comes to OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3 only by the second or the third quarter of 2017.

Sony too is quite slow with their Android updates. Their Marshmallow update only came in March this year. By the looks of it, Android 7 will also be similar and won’t come on Xperia devices until mid-2017.

Xiaomi faced a few issues with the Marshmallow update, and it didn’t come on the Mi devices until April of 2016. If they face a similar problem, Mi won’t be rolling out Nougat until the second quarter of next year. But if they sort the problem out, it might come as early as the end of this year.

If you were on the hunt for a shiny new smartphone right now, do you know which one you would buy? If you are an Apple fan, Samsung lover, OnePlus Groupie, or a Huawei aficionado, each manufacturer has something to offer. And in this article, we’re going to compare the latest each has to offer, design and specs to try and find out which is the best-looking and has best specifications.

Galaxy Note 7 vs. Honor 8 vs. iPhone 6S Plus vs. OnePlus 3 vs. Galaxy S7 Edge

Why this selection of handsets? They represent a selection of the best handsets that are available right now. While some, like the Galaxy Note 7, Huawei Honor 8 and One Plus 3, were all released within the last month or two, the older handsets features are still worthy competitors and devices you should consider.

Designs compared

Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Samsung Galaxy Note 7: The most recently-announced of the handsets compared here is the Galaxy Note 7. This handset takes some obvious visual cues from Samsung’s other big hitter, the S7 Edge. However, it’s not a clone of that handset. Instead, it keeps the square edges synonymous with the Galaxy Note range and the S-pen, but this isn’t where the cohesion of design stops as it comes with a metal build and curved glass on the front and rear.

The size of the handset is nothing remarkable for a Note phablet; it measures 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7mm and weighs in at a respectable 157grams.

Huawei Honor 8

Huawei Honor 8: First thoughts when looking at the Huawei Honor 8 is that it looks surprisingly good. If you want something that is nearly as easy on the eye as the Galaxy Note 7, this is the handset. A big plus is its curved glass like seen on the Galaxy S7, which causes a shimmering effect at different angles adding to the phone’s appeal.

Due to the handset’s size and the curved edges that feel like faux metal, the Honor 8 fits neatly into the hand and does not feel cumbersome. It measures in at 145.5 x 71 x 7.mm and weighs 153 grams, making it both fractionally thinner and lighter than the Note 7.

OnePlus 3 Smartphone

OnePlus 3: Dubbed the flagship killer, the OnePlus 3, is a handset that has been set a hefty goal. However, like the HTC One series of handsets and other modern smartphones, it is built using a single piece of aluminum. Easy on the eye, it has an anodized finish and a slightly curved rear, plus slightly rounded metal edges which catch the light thanks to diamond-cut chamfers.

As far as first impressions are concerned, if you had all of the handsets in this article lined up, the OnePlus 3 would not be the first to catch your eye. It’s not that it is not well-built or looks ugly; it’s just not up to the standard of a few of the others. Moving on to size its measurements are 152.7 x 74.7 x 7.4mm, making it thinnest of the three handsets looked at so far.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Galaxy S7: Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S6, the design of the S7 did not change anything, in fact, the differences are so minimal that they can be considered identical. What it does have is a slightly more minimalist finish due to a slight refinement to its metal waistband. What this did was reveal more of a curve to the S7’s rear and also make it slightly slimmer at the side. There’s no doubt that this handset is a real beauty. It’s possibly third on this list behind the Note 7 and Honor 8, in that order.

As for size, its vitals are 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9mm, and for weight, it is 152 grams.

iPhone 6s Plus

iPhone 6s Plus: For an iPhone, the 6s Plus is huge and made from a different grade of aluminum alloy than its predecessor; I assume this was to prevent the reoccurrence of the Bendgate scandal. As for looks, there is nothing new here compared to what came before it. Yes, Rose Gold may be a color that has your interest, but if it doesn’t, your choices are rather limited. Another downside of this handset is its huge bezels, which is another feature that has seemed to become ingrained into Apple designers’ psyche. Overall, the iPhone 6s Plus is just another iPhone churned out by a company which at that point had no new ideas.

Let’s hope the iPhone 7 manages to change things somehow! The iPhone 6s Plus measures 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3mm and weighs in as the heaviest of all five smartphones at 192 grams.

Specifications compared

Here’s a chart which compares the specifications, camera, chipset, RAM, display size, resolution and other important aspects of all five handsets.

Smartphones Compared Note 7 Honor 8 OnePlus3 S7 iPhone 6s Plus

Final thoughts

As far as design is concerned, I think the Galaxy Note 7, with its mixture of S7 Edge, looks and Note robustness, make it the winner in the looks stakes. As for specifications, this is where things get a little more tricky to judge, as the specs are so close for all five handsets.

That being said, though, the Galaxy Note 7 is head-and-shoulders above the others in all departments.

We can say that runtime is the heart of any Android based device. Runtime is using for the using of running an application in the phone and any software which are used to function properly Android applications are compiled to Dalvik bytecode and run ART. That’s what i explain above in this detailed post.

Applications
These are the basics of Android based applications:
• Android applications are composed of one or more application components (activities, services, content providers, and broadcast receivers and runtime format)

• The main file must declare all components in the application and should also declare all application requirements, such as the minimum version of Android required and any hardware configurations required.

• Non-code application resources such as picture, strings and layout files should include alternatives for different device configurations such as different strings for different languages

• Each component performs a different role in the overall application behavior, and each one can be activated individually even by other applications

Google software development and application development, had launched two competitions ADC1 and ADC2 for the most futuristic applications for Android. It offered prizes of $10 million combined in ADC1 and 2. ADC1 was launched in January 2008 and ADC 2 was launched in May 2009.
